NEW RELEASE: Letters to Ur Ex - Mahalia

I reviewed singles from Mahalia before, and since the full EP exists now I wanted to review the finished product!

"Letters to Ur Ex" is still a solid track for me this time later. It is short but it has a nice flow and a solid stream of consciousness. She doesn't get off from it. Definitely an earworm vibe.

"In the Club" is a solid pop track but it does not have the same emotional effect of the first track. Definitely strong potential for Mahalia to have radio play.

"Forever" is a completely new track to our ears and shows off her a voice a little more melodically. The production is so smooth on this track. It really draws you in and gets you lost in the melody. The lyrics don't grab me as much as the music itself.

"Whatever Simon Says" struggles with the flow. She seems like she is squeezing too many words into the track. This is the one that is a solid miss from me.

"Letter to Ur N(ex)t" has a lot of sentimentality, but reprises the top tracks as a letter to the next woman who deserves better. It comes off really strong.

Lyrics: 5/10 - I think the lyrics fit, although they're not particularly unique or standout. Sometimes it is the emotional delivery that creates it.

Music: 8/10 - Outside "Whatever Simon Says", the music of the album is very well done and cohesive.

Overall: 7/10 - I definitely would love to hear a full body of work from her.
